Question:

What makes this oil truly stable ?

Answer:  by Professor Adiel tel Oren (M.D):

"Obviously, the fact that it stayed stable for 2 years is what caught the eyes of the researchers of the Volcanic Institute of the Israeli Dept. of Agriculture, leading to the worldwide patent on the oil.

This perennial plant grows in warm climates with long summers and very mild winters (many days at the height of winter are as high as 70 degrees F.) - so the seed oil has to be protected from heat by the plant's large supply of antioxidants (all 4 isomers of vit E, Sclareol, and many others).

Also, as a medicinal plant, clary sage contains many medicinal "aromatic" compounds - these end up in the oil after cold-pressing, since they are lipid-soluble (just as "essential" medicinal oils are) and are integrated into the seed oil.

That can be a significant reason for the stability, since these aromatic essential oils have their own antioxidant properties, and by intercalating - inserting themselves between Omega 3 FA (and other unsaturated) molecules - they prevent the typical chain reaction (domino-effect) that causes rapid recodification.

This is similar to the studies done with coconut oil, showing that the more you intercalate coconut oil's saturated MCT/SCT among polyunsaturated, the less peroxidation and rancidity of these unsaturated will follow.

Other seed oils (camelina, flax, chia, rape) appear to lack this medicinal oil effect, and lose their protective ability once the oil is extracted and separated from the solid components that offered some antioxidant benefit while reducing exposure to oxygen, light, and heat.

The unique combination of essential medicinal oil fractions with the warm-climate antioxidants in a wild medicinal perennial plant (heirloom seeds grown in their natural habitat) is probably the cause for this amazing stability."

Question:

Some current supplements, advertised as using the latest research, contain a ratio of 2:1 Omega 6 to Omega 3. Although they do not contain fish oil, they contain several oils, including flax, sunflower oil, pumpkin seed oil, coconut and other oils. How do these oils compare to Clary Sage seed oil?

Answers:

     1. there is more than enough Omega 6 in the Western diet. It is found in a large variety of foods, including beef, chicken, dairy products, sun-flower oil, soybean oil, canola oil, etc. It would be better to have more unprocessed Omega 6 in the diet instead of processed oils but the claim that Omega 6 is deficient in the Western diet is not true.

     2. We are depleted in Omega 3 compared to Omega 6. This product has a ratio of 2:1 Omega 6 to Omega 3. It doesn't improve the ratio in our body, on the contrary- it makes it worse. Clary Sage oil contains Omega 3 and Omega 6 in ratio of 3:1 favoring the Omega 3. Clary Sage seed oil improves the ratio of omega 6 to omega 3 in our body. The product you have asked about doesn't do it.

     3. Flaxseed oil is not a good source of Omega 3. It is one of the most unstable oils in nature. It oxidizes and becomes rancid at room temperature.

     4. Sunflower oil contains too much Omega 6 oil and does not contribute to the 3:1 ratio of Omega 3 to Omega 6 needed for optimum body health. It is also unstable and contains only a small amount of antioxidants as compared to Clary Sage seed oil, which is very rich in antioxidants.

     5. Eating pumpkin seeds is much better for you than using pumpkin oil. They are rich in zinc and other mineral and besides pumpkin seed oil is very expensive. One or two teaspoons of pumpkin seeds can be added to a salad and tastes much better while being better for you!

     6. Coconut oil should be used only if it is cold pressed. It should be used as a major cooking oil in the kitchen. It is made up of mainly medium chain saturated oil and does have anti-bacterial and other benefits. It should be used freely in the kitchen. In fact, a kitchen needs and should use only 2 kinds of oil, olive oil (extra virgin cold-pressed) for salads and coconut oil for all other uses.

     7. Evening primrose oil is the only oil here which has some benefit. This is because it contains GLA (the only type of Omega 6 which has anti-inflammatory properties). The advantage of the Evening primrose oil in these supplements though, is negligible compared to the disadvantages of the other oils.

In summary - These supplements have ALA, but because flaxseed oil is not a stable ALA it is a poor choice and it is better to avoid it. Pumpkin and coconut oils are basically foods so putting them in a supplement can be compared to selling you a food, say like an apple, as a supplement. They should be used as daily foods as pumpkin seeds, which are healthier than the oil and coconut oil for cooking. Sunflower oil should be avoided because it has too much Omega 6.

There is no doubt that Clary Sage seed oil is superior in all respects. It is the most stable natural source of Omega 3. It contains very large amounts of anti-oxidants and has high concentrations of phyto-sterols (which reduce the bad cholesterol levels). It keeps the Omega 3 to Omega 6 ratio as it should be.

Question:  Is Omega 3 needed on a daily basis?

Answer:

In most cells, the package is renewed every 2-3 days. Therefore, Omega 3 replenishment is needed on a daily basis.

Another common fatty acid in the human body is Omega 6, which contributes to infectious processes in the body.

On the other hand, Omega 3 discourages and prevents infections. In fact, there is equilibrium in the body of both Omega 3 and Omega 6.

Unfortunately, modern Western cousin is rich in Omega 6 and poor in Omega 3 content. In the Western world, the ratio of Omega 6 to Omega 3 is 16:1 in favor of the Omega 6.

It is therefore extremely advantageous to consume Omega 3 on a daily basis in order to return the body’s natural equilibrium and health.
